he Bragança Polytechnic University (Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, IPB, www.ipb.pt/en)
is a Portuguese higher education public institution with a defined mission in creating,
transmitting and diffusing technical-scientific and professional knowledge through the
articulation of study, applied research and experimental development. IPB has more than
10.000 students and is divided into six schools, embracing a wide area of knowledge and
technology. In 40 years, IPB has prepared more than forty thousand graduates, establishing
itself as a paramount agent to the regional and national development, and to the
decentralization and democratization in the access to higher education. At international
level, IPB distinguishes by its multicultural academic community with 38% of non-
Portuguese students, and by the dimension of the student mobility where 25% of its
graduates went through an international mobility experience during higher education
training, above the European Union goal (20%).
The IPB is part of the universities of applied sciences European network and of the national
system of science and technology through the existence of institutional R&D units, namely,
the CIMO (Mountain Research Centre), CeDRI (Research Centre in Digitalization and
Intelligent Robotics), UNIAG (Applied Management Research Unit), CIEB (Research Centre in
Basic Education), and a pole of CIDESD (Research Centre in Sports Sciences, Health and
Human Development). The IPB has indicators of the impact and excellence of its scientific
production and applied research, namely at U-Multirank, Scimago Institutions Rankings e
Shanghai Ranking. The IPB is a founding member of the Park of Science and Technology
Brigantia-EcoPark, a privileged space for science and technology for technology-based
companies, start-ups and spin-offs, and associate member of the Collaborative Laboratories
MORE and AQUAVALOR for the implementation of research and innovation agendas aimed
at the creation of economic and social value.
Visiting staff can interact and exchange experiences and design future joint projects with our
team around cybersecurity, networks and systems administration, development and e-
learning.
